| An area of South Derbyshire had a proliferation of greyhound tracks in the infancy of the sport in the late 1920s and early 1930s. One of the tracks was just outside of Burton on Trent at Swadlincote, whilst close by is the tiny village of Woodville. The track, called the Victory Greyhound Stadium, was built around the outskirts of the village cricket ground and was situated at 1° 32' W 52° 46' N. It operated as an independently run track for just one year, in 1929, and ran standard races over 500 yards, but closed in 1930. |
